Easier-to-read font (OpenDyslexic and wider spacing)
All text switches to the OpenDyslexic font, and the spacing between letters, words and lines grows. Research does not show that the font alone speeds up reading, but wider letter spacing helps some children with dyslexia, so we use both together.
What changes
- OpenDyslexic font on every screen for the child
- More space between letters, words and lines
- The font is stored in the app and works offline
Who it can help
Children whose letters get "mixed up" or swapped when they read, especially in letter and reading games. Every child is different: try it for a few days and see whether reading feels easier.
How to turn it on
In the app, tap the padlock in the top right corner and hold it for three seconds, solve a short task for parents, then switch on this setting under Child’s needs. The change applies straight away and can be switched off at any time.
Try it with CAPITAL LETTERS too: some children like the two together best. If you suspect dyslexia, talk to a speech and language therapist.
Adaptations are free and apply to every game. Huhu does not ask for a diagnosis and is not therapy; for advice about your child’s development, talk to a specialist.
