Everything read aloud: games without reading

Huhu the owl reads instructions, praise and hints aloud, so children do not need to read to know what to do. It is on from the start.

What changes

  • Every instruction in a game is spoken aloud
  • Answers written as words (cities, sign meanings, feelings) are read after the question; numbers and letters are not, because that is what the child is practising
  • After a wrong answer the owl explains what the child tapped (for example "That is the knee")
  • The voice built into the device is used, so no text is sent to the internet

Who it can help

Children who cannot read yet, and children for whom reading takes so much effort that little is left for the game itself.

How to turn it on

In the app, tap the padlock in the top right corner and hold it for three seconds, solve a short task for parents, then switch on this setting under Child’s needs. The change applies straight away and can be switched off at any time.

If the device has no English voice, the owl stays silent. Voices can be added in the language and speech settings of the device.

Adaptations are free and apply to every game. Huhu does not ask for a diagnosis and is not therapy; for advice about your child’s development, talk to a specialist.
